Nepal, the land of Lord Pasupatinath and the birthplace of lord Buddha, is a sovereign in independent kingdom situated on the southern slopes of the mid-Himalayas. Her borders are contiguous with India in the East, West, South and with the Tibetan autonomous region of P.R. China in the north, Nepal is endowed with a wide variety of flora and fauna, meandering rivers, lakes, glaciers, mountains and lush green valleys. Not surprisingly, Nepal offers something for everybody-a tourist, trekker, river runner, wildlife enthusiast, poet, artist, writer or a scholar. 

How to Enter:
 
By Air: Kathmandu-the capital of Nepal is air-linked with Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta and Varanasi of India, Bangkok, Hongkong, Singapore, Dhaka, Paro, Karachi, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London, Frankfurt, Patna, Paris Moscow, Lhasa and Osaka vis Shanghai. 
 

By Land:Visitors can enter Nepal from Kakarbhitta, Birgunj, Nepalgunj, Dhangadi, Mahendra Nagar and Belhiya (Bhairahawa) in Nepal with their vehicles must posses an international carnet.
 
Frontier Formalities:
 
Passport & Visa:
 
All visitors to Nepal except the Indian nationals must hold valid passports and visa which can be obtained from Royal Nepalese missions abroad or at the point of entry. Indian nationals must possess identification cards to prove their nationality.
 
Airport Tax:
     
Rs. 600.00 per person for departure to SAARC countries and Rs. 1000.00 for departure to other international destination.
 
Accommodation:
 
Nepal has a wide variety of accommodations, which ranges from five-star to budget hotels and lodges.
 
Restaurants:
 
In Kathmandu and Pokhara almost every type of cuisines like Chinese, Tibetan, Japanese, Indian, Nepalese and Continental are available for visitors on their choice.
 
Currency:
 
The unit of the Nepalese currency is Rupee. One Nepali Rupee is made up of 100 paisa. Foreign currencies must be exchanged only through the banks or authorised foreign exchange dealers.
 
The approximate exchange rates are as follows:
 
100 Indian Rupees = 160 Nepalese Rupee
 
1 U.S. Dollar = 67 Nepalese Rupee
  
1 Pound Sterling = 110 Nepalese Rupee
