This land mass is diverse, ranging from the snow clad regions of the Himalayas to
the arid desert of Rajasthan, from the grasslands of Gujarat to the sal forests of
central India, from the tropical forests of Kerala, eastward to the mangrove swamps of the
Sunderbans and the evergreen forests of Assam. With this amazing diversity in habitat
there is a corresponding variety and richness in the flora and founa. And, most important
of all, in a country of over 800 million people, these natural forests and wilderness
areas continue to survive. |
