Badami-North Karnataka's Historic Magic
The capital of the Early Chalukyas, Badami (also known as Vatapi) situated in North
Karnataka, is picturesquely situated at the mouth of a ravine between two rocky hills.
Rock-cut cave temples, gateways, forts, inscriptions, sculptures that seem to come alive
under your eyes. Badami has to be seen to be believed. |

Saputara |
Saputara-A
perfect hill station in Gujarat in the Dang District
Saputara is located in the Dangs district in
Gujarat. The land of the fascinating forests and the fantastic mountains. Romance spills
unlimited from every tree that inhabits this blessed land, from every stream that flows
across its many valleys. It is said that mighty British, in all their glory and military
might be able to never subjugate the natives of this place, the spirits of its mountains. |
 |
|
Civilisation, a force much
greater than the British, has not made many inroads either, preserving this land in its
pristine, unpolluted glory, where smogs are unknown and the people are simple. At night
the stars reach down to the mountains and become one in an eternal dance of creation. |
Varkala |
 |
Varkala-A
famous beach in Kerala
This is another good beach 50 Km from Trivandrum
in Kerala. The Papanasan beach here is not as crowded as the one in Kovalam. The
Janarathama temple here is believed to be over 2000 years old. Red laterite cliffs that
border the beach jut dramatically into the sea. The sweet mineral springs that gush out
from these cliffs is famed for their medicinal properties. |

Chardham |
Char Dham-The Sacred
Trail
Up in the misty heights of the majestic Garhwal Himalayas that adorn the magnificent
state of Uttar Pradesh, awaits a rejuvenating spiritual experience for the devout.
Nestling in the lofty peaks are the four most holy pilgrimages of India-Yamunotri,
Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, collectively referred to as the Char Dham (or four
pilgrimage centres) of Hinduism. |
 |
Traditionally,
the yatra (or journey) is done from the west to the east - starting from Yamunotri, then
proceeding to Gangotri and finally to Kedarnath and Badrinath. Although Char Dham are
highly accessible through network of motorable roads, arduous trails remain in the ancient
sanctuaries of faith for a fulfilling experience. |
